Need help finding a monster

Hi all.
I'm looking for a specific critter I've seen related to 3/3.5 that I can't recall now where I found it, either through official content or supplemental publishers, or even d&d wiki homebrew. I've checked Echohawk's database but without a snippet of detail on the creature I can't be sure whether I've found it or not.

All I recall about it is that it's a small (tiny, diminutive, or fine) fire elemental or spirit that I believe manifests from hearth fires, and likes to lurk in taverns.

If you manage to find the creature, you win all my internets.

Domovoi is a small fey with the fire subtype from Frostburn (Pg 121) and it may be what you're thinking of. They are protectors of creatures that depend on hearth and fire to live in cold areas.

That MAY be it. It sounds like it, but I don't remember it being a hairy little man, haha.

I think I've found the closest critter to what I was thinking of. Dragon Magazine #304, "Spark". I didn't think it was an evil creature, but the description does mention 'hearth' and it's an itty bitty flaming humanoid, so that had to be it.

I was hoping for a pet or familiar for a fire-themed character, but now I'm thinking of going safe and trying to catch a Shimmerling, haha. If Efreetikin weren't silly-looking I'd consider one of those. Mephits are too big... those would be like having a halfling 'familiar', lol.
