Need help finding FTR Prestige Class

In a home-brew campaign I'm playing a fighter with a mercenary feel. The setting is slightly arabic, with badlands instead of desert, the ruling tribes/clans have a bedouin (sp) feel. Anywany, I've got a fighter and it's developed at 4th level into the leader of the group. I've got 3 levels of Fighter, and one of rogue, only because I *really* needed the skills boost in diplomacy and local lore and the finding traps was much more appropriate to the events of the campaign than any bardic skill. (So far we're involved in a long-term plot with nasty dopplegangers  , doing caravan guarding and body guarding as how we are hunting down the bad guys and protecting our friends/employers.)

So, here I am, looking for a prestige class that increases or favors my diplomacy/people skills as the leader of my company, and also increases my ability to demolish my foes on the battlefield as the party's heavy hitter.

My thoughts lend me to think that I'm looking for a Mercenary class, or Bandit Leader, or Captian of the Guard. I haven't seen anything in the WotC books that is going down my road. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Prestige classes depend upon your weapons and tactics as much as anything else. I'd take a look at Dervish because it sounds semi-appropriate.

However, something else to consider is one level of fighter and three more levels of rogue. You won't lose any more BAB, you'd pick up evasion, uncanny dodge, and 2d6 sneak attack as well as all the skillpoints you can come up with a use for. That's well worth two feats and 6 hit points (on average).

As far as PrCs go, I do remember an article from a recent Dragon Magazine that had 3-4 PrC for (or inspired by) the Al-Qadim setting. I'd have to check at home tonight to see if any of them fit what you are looking for specifically (and I'm not sure which issue these appeared in, too). Someone here might have their issues handy and might be able to give you a quicker answer.

Looking at my Complete Warrior Handbook, I see the following Fighter PrC's you might want to look at. If your DM dislikes the "knight" motif, many of these classes can be renamed with most of their abilities and requirements intact. For instance, the Cavalier can be re-named to any famous mounted combat tribe or unit (the heavy-armor motif is pure flavor and actually has nothing to do with the class).

Cavalier: an excellent mounted combat PrC, Diplomacy and Knowledge (nobility) are class skills, requires +8 BAB so you still have a bit of work to do to get there.

Kensai/Weapon Master: aside from the obvious focus on a single weapon, they get better social skills than the cavalier. The requirements are probably easier to get, but the class may be so "out of flavor" your DM might not allow it.

Knight Protector: basically a cavalier with infantry abilities instead of mounted abilities, roughly same class skills, and a lot easier to get into. This is probably the way to go if you're a Strength/Cleave fighter (think how good Cleave and Sneak Attack work together when attacking groups of flat-footed foes!).

Purple Dragon Knight: in case you haven't noticed, most social-oriented fighter PrC's involve knighthood somehow! These guys have morale-related abilities similar to low-level bards. They don't require investment in Perform skill, at least.

Well it's a bit hard since you don't say just what type of fighter you are (a two-handed power attacker, a trip fighter, an archer?). But a few things come to mind:

You could qualify for duelist prety easily. Stylistically that should be prety easy to work into an arabic setting but I don't know if the finesse-fighter thing will work for you.

It would require 2-3 more levels of rogue to make the skill requirements but Outlaw of the Crimson Road (S&S) shold take care of all your diplomacy needs and makes a fine desert bandit. Though it may not have enough martial power for the party's main combantant.

You should have no problem qualifying for the Warmaster (S&F) and the flavor of the class is prety portable to any setting. The only problem is that it has BAB +7 as a requirement so that puts it at 9th level for you.

You may want to look at PrC's designed for paladins. You could qualify for Holy Liberator by level 7 or Knight of the Middle Circle by level 8.

But personally I would suggest you just forget about PrC's and go for a Rog3/FtrX or Rog4/FtrX. That should give you more than enough skill points assuming that you focus on the social skills and 2d6 extra damage when flanking isn't half bad either. Your only concern will be a lack of HP and Fort (required of a front line combantant) but if you have a decent Con and make increasing it a priority you should be ok (the Evasion will help save HP on the front line too). Take Iron Will and Leadership at level 6 and 9 to round out the package and you should be good to go.

Before taking a prc, note that the next level of fighter and the next level of rogue are really good levels. The fighter one grants weap spec, and the rogue one is worth a bab AND evasion in addition to the skill points.

Ahhh...I found it for you bro, it's in Mongoose Publishing " Ultimate Prestige classes " it's the Nomad Warrior....there are alot of cool fighter and cleric classes in it, but the Mage ones and especially the rogue ones are kinda lame....not in powergaming terms, if that's what you want, I mean in the obscurely, what we call, ( no offense to anyone here ) GAY way...they are just really gay.....most everything from Mongoose is good though, so it's not their fault, but after Arch-Mage, there really are no cool ones anyway...and I've never seen a cool rogue PRC
