Need help furnishing a demon's mansion. [My players be gone!]

Hi!

Here's my 2 power points.

People tend to keep aviaries, gardens, bee nurseries and other sorts of places where animals and plants are cultivated for some sort of purpose, be it biological research, agriculture, or for honey etc. So following the same logic, let's give the demon a room or two to cultivate humans in! Maybe it's trying to milk out despair and suffering from mortals, that can be a valuable, marketable good back in the Abyss (like liquid pain from BoVD) like we collect honey from bees, or maybe it's trying to cultivate stronger breeds of mortal family trees like we cultivate plants and crops - some sort of debased breeding chamber.

Just imagine a huge chamber with furrows of earth in the floor, and a huge cobweb above, where a spider demon, massive in its profane bulk, tosses out humanoids, animals, beasts of all sorts into the soil to "plant" stronger minions...

Does the demon have major image or any other illusion spell-like ability? You could even make a series of rooms which looks -totally- normal, a contrast from the carnage and creepiness of the other rooms, and they are all as mundane as can be, looking for all the world like a church or chapel of some sort. The holy symbols and articles of faith in the house can be placed there, as the demon tries to understand the thing that mortals wield against it - "faith"; like a fiend of blasphemy (PrC from the Fiend Folio), it may be trying to subvert mortal religions, and to do so, it needs to comprehend and research its foe. It manifests miracles through its illusions to the surviving mortals to see their reactions, or maybe in a yet more twisted manner, it has its spider-brood like dretch minions pray and pray and then get burnt by the holy items - but it's doing so, in order to let demon-kind evolve.

You know, I could see this happening - not with a spider demon, mind you, but with some other kind of evil outsider. Devil of some kind, perhaps. And instead of doing it in one or two rooms... doing his little eugenics program -very- subtilely across a whole town, working behind the scenes for years and years and years. Seeing that the child of this strain just happens to hook up with the child of this other family and lo and behold, things just work out for them and they wed. It would be even more easy if the demon had some inherrant shape changing power. Maybe an Eyriness.


In fact... yes... I think I've got an idea forming now...

Wonderful idea! While I may not use it in this particular scenerio, I certainly plan to use it down the line.

Bloodlines and such are a big part of Eberron. And it just so happens, the Blood of Vol is trying to bring back the Mark of Death..... Oh yes, it all fits now!
