Need help interpreting a bit of rules..

Hey folks,

On p. 88 of the Tome of Battle: Book of Nine Swords there is the full description of the Leaping Dragon Stance. For those who don't have or use that book and its rules.. here is the relevant bit:

Bo9S said:
...you gain a +10-foot enhancement bonus on Jump checks...

What does this mean?

Does it mean:

a) Your speed is now 10ft faster than normal, thus granting a +4 bonus on Jump checks (as per the rules found in the Jump Skill)
b) Your speed is considered 10ft faster than normal only in regards to getting the +4 bonus on Jump Checks.
c) You gain a +10 enhancement bonus to Jump Checks
d) Something else

Is there errata somewhere that addresses this? What say you?

I'd rule it as option c) above. A +10 enhancement bonus to jump checks. Of course, this is just a personal guess, as I don't have the book in question.

It looks/sounds like you get a 10ft enhancement bonus to your jump distance.
Net effect is essentially c) for running jumps, but d) for standing jumps.
With running jumps, you go 1ft/1 point of result, with standing jumps, your go 1ft/2 points of result. To explain that better, with a Jump check result of 30, you go 30ft with a running start, and 15ft from a standing start (40ft or 25ft, respectively, with the stance).

Note, above is for long jumps only.

I think you'd also add 10ft to a vertical jump as well.

I don't actually have the book, but, I would think that there'd be a reason for the "foot" to be there.

Then why does it say "10-foot"?

I wouldn't have a problem with a DM ruling it as c), I might do so myself if I were faced with such a situation, but, reading it, there's support for adding 10ft to the jump distance.

I was throwing it out mostly as a potential for debating it.

I am guessing they are trying to imply that you treat the character as if they had run 10 feet more than they actually did. Thus recieving a +4 to a jump check.
