All 3 Artisan feats are giving me a problem. I have just got the book and I like the parts I have goten up to till I hit page 49. On page 49 Exceptional (reduce time 25%), extraordinary( reduce gold 25%), and legendary (reduce xp 25%) Artisan feats have a small 2 next to it. When you read below is say "2 You can gain this feat Multiple times. Its effects stack." If I am reading this right for 4 feats you can reduce one part to nothing, for 8 feats 2 parts and for 12 you can make magical stuff for free instenly. Am I readfing this wrong or am I correst. As of about 18 level a Human Artificer can do this if I am not mistaken. I do realive this is focuesing in one thing but still making any magic item for free and no time can be very damgeres.

This is an example of the absurdity in always following the "Rules As Written" and making no allowance for DM judgement! It stands to reason that allowing any magic item to be created for free is absurd, and all DM's should be 100% free to eliminate absurd situations from their game.

In my case, I would simply rule that "more than once" doesn't mean "an unlimited number of times". I would find a non-absurd limit to this ability and apply it... in this case this limit would be 3. Each of the Artisan feats can be taken 3 times, allowing item creation discounts up to 75%. Problem solved.

Edit: Frankly, I think each feat should have been listed as three separate feats: a normal version, an Improved version, and a Greater version (like Two-Weapon Fighting).

Well, you could do what retail outlets like Macys do: Additional 25% off of 25% off of sale price (someone do the math for me). I do believe that was the intention, though poor wording hurts.

Since the feats themselves don't state that they can be taken more than once, I would consider that a typo and not allow them to be taken more than once.

Look at the Improved Damage Reduction feat, the actual feat descriptions states that it can be taken multiple times, and under what circumstances.

In general, summary tables do not take precedence of the actual description of a spell, feat, class, or ability.

I am think about letting my players take them up to 3 times each so by burning 9 feats they pay only 25% gold, 25% xp and 25% time. This would work well I think with the new class.

They have a Q&A thread with Keith Baker (primary designer of Eberron) over on the main board. I asked about this:

I'll jump on this because it's quick. Yes, this is a mistake. You should not be able to take any of these feats multiple times. Although for what it's worth, their effects stack with one another.

Or you could do it like mentioned before if you dont mind people taking it multiple times.

on a 100g magic item,
if you take the feat 1 time it costs 75g
if you take the feat 2 times it costs 56g 25s
if you take the feat 3 times it costs 42g 18s 25c
if you take the feat 4 times it costs 31g 64s 6c
if you take the feat 5 times it costs 23g 73s 5c
if you take the feat 6 times it costs 17g 79s 78c

Basicly 25% of off 75% etc etc... Still useful but not insanely powerful.
