Need help with a giant-slayer

Hi,

I'm building a Dwarf Ranger for an upcoming game and I'm having trouble coming up with a character. I want to play a dwarf giant-slayer with. Thematically, the Giant-killer prestige class (from Silver Marches but problem with 3.0) and the Gnome Giant-Slayer prestige class (from Complete Warrior but problem with the race) interest me.

The game is 32 point buy, starting at level 6.

I like the dwarven waraxe as the primary weapon, but I think a handaxe or even a throwing axe would be a more dwarven choice for the off hand. The urgosh is also a good weapon choice.

For my ranger, I take the PHB2 option and lose the animal companion, replacing it with the flanking benefit.

The DM allows material from the Core books, the Complete series, the Races of X series and Eberron (and exceptionally Silver Marches if I take the PrC).

I'm really at a loss for what feats to take, what skills to take and any prestige classes I should be aiming for and how to assign my ability scores.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

You might want to consider looking at the Tempest class, since it looks like you'll be going the two-weapon route.

As a Dwarf, you have some advantages against giants. Presumably, Giants will be a favored enemy as well. Pick up a giant-bane weapon when you can.

Do you need to be more specialized than that? I'd just go with being a strong general combatant from that point on...

I suggest you nicely ask the DM to allow you to ignore the racial requirement for the "Gnome Giant-Slayer". If your backstory is flexible enough, you could claim to have been raised by Gnomes or several old family friends were "Gnome Giant-Slayers". Either way can help you to 'by-pass' that requirement. There is also the option of hunting down a "Gnome Giant-Slayer" in-game and asking him to train you.
