Need help with Cars

garrowolf

First Post
I am converting a bunch of vehicles to my D20 Nexus game for different tech levels and I ran across a problem. I was working on the Atomic Age (1945-1980) and I need some representative cars for each decade.
I need the following for each decade:
Economy, mid-sized, and luxury sedans, a sports coupe, a pickup truck, a motorcycle, and anything that is highly common for that time period and how much they would cost at the time.
I can do the work of looking them up but the problem is that most of my searches turn up too much information for me to sort through. Plus I think that it would be annoying to not have the most common or representative kinds of vehicles in the system if someone wants to use them.

Thank you for any help you have.

How detailed do you need?

I think I help with some names, but I'm not good with prices (wikipedia might be helpful here, or if you can get a hold of an old copy of a "blue book", which shows the relative values of cars).

Here's the cars I found (or remembered as "iconic") that were "popular" - usually in the millions of sales.

1940's
---------------
Packard 8 (midsize/sedan)

1950's
---------------
Chevy Bel-Air
Ford Thunderbird (T-bird)

1960's
----------------
Volkswagen Bug/Beetle
Volkswagen Van
Chevy Camero
Buick Riviera
Ford Econoline (van)
Ford Mustang (sport/midsize)
Mercedes Benz S-Class (sedan)
Porche 911 (sport)
Rambler Classic (midsize/sedan)

1970's
----------------
Ford Pinto (economy)
AMC Gremlin (economy)
AMC Hornet (economy)
Dodge Charger (i.e., General Lee)
Honda Civic (economy)
Honda Accord (economy)
Mitsubishi Gallant (midsize)
Mitsubishi Lancer (sedan?)
Plymouth Voyager (van)
Pontiac Firebird (sport/midsize)
Toyota Hilux (pickup)
Volkswagen Golf (economy)
Volkswagen Passat (economy)

1980's
----------------
Ford Taurus (sedan)
Delorian DMC-12 (included because you just can't leave this car out of the 80's)
Austin Metro
Ferrari 308 (Magnum PI's car of choice)
Ford Aerostar (minivan)
Ford Ranger (pickup)
Lincoln Town Car (sedan)
Mercury Grand Marquis (sedan)
Toyota Camry (midsize)
Volkswagen Jetta (midsize)

Models that span several decades (usually from the 60's on)
-----------------
Chevy Corvette (sport)
Chevy Impala (midsize)
Buick LeSabre (midsize)
Buick Special (midsize/sedan)
Ford F-Series (pickup)
Ford Fiesta (economy)
Jeep CJ (jeep)

Also, Porsche 911 (sports coupe), which you already mentioned in your 60's section, was pretty iconic through till... now.

I'd say 911s are still pretty iconic.

Vespas are probably the most iconic moped out there, likewise Harley Davidsons are the most iconic of the motorcycle brands. Minsk motorcycles, however, are one of the more popular inexpensive brands, globally speaking. Kind of the AK-47 of the motorcycle world.

When it was initially introduced- as it is today- the Mini Cooper was a strong competitor in the market and in pop culture for the Beetle.

Let's not forget the Vans: Chevy Vans (like the GMC Vandura) and the Volkswagen Van Type 1 and 2 (aka Vanagon).

What model was the van from the A-team? I believe it was a GMC, and I'm pretty sure it was popular in the 70's and 80's.

Something to add to the Jeep like vehicles would be the Land Rovers and the Toyota Land Cruisers- both of these vehicles are mainstays of those who live in the middle of nowhere. Odds are good that if you saw a nature show or a movie set in the Outback or the Serengheti, you saw one or the other.
