Need help with Magical Items for a Wizard!

Generally these kinds of threads annoy me since they seem to pop up every couple of days or so, but I'm stumped.

I have a 6th level wizard with Craft Wondrous Items, ~16,000gp, and ~2000xp to play with.

He is a wizard that focuses primarily on Ice/Cold/Frost spells (and cannot use any spells with the fire descriptor--role-playing choice). He has a hairy spider familiar, so there is a bit of an arachnid theme as well.

I'm looking for something interesting to make, not just +2 Cloak of Resistance, etc., hopefully something that ties in with his themes. He cannot cast illusion or enchantment spells so if they were required, it would have to be from scrolls. Maybe something along the lines of a War Wizard's Cloak? Or a Cape of Winter (but with more?)?

Any suggestions? All the splatbooks, FRCS, MoF, and BoEM are fair game.

<sigh> I'm just having a heck of a time deciding what I want. I can purchase items with up to ~3,000gp value (I think), so that's always an option.

If you're crafting the item yourself, you have a decent amount of power to work with. I'd probably craft a modified Cloak of Arachnida, since that goes with your theme. Take the original cloak, then add the powers of a Cloak of the Bat changing all the bat references to spider/bug ones.

Cloak of the Bat: 24k
Cloak of Arachnida: 16k (doubled for taking up no slot)
Total: 40k
Cost to Craft: 20,000gp +1600xp

As a kind DM, I'd probably allow you to drop the gp cost to 16,000gp and bump up the xp cost to 2000xp.

Note: My prices are approximations, since I don't have the books with me.

Get 2000 more gold and make a headband of intellect +6 (36000)
Or you could create a new item like
Amulet of Frost
Adds to the difficulty of any spells with the frost/cold descriptor.
Ranges from +1 to +5.

I don't know if this would be the same price as a cloak of resistance of equal pluses or a ring of protection.
Pendragon had a good idea. I like it better than mine now that I look at it again. Later on get slippers of spider climb if something similar is not included in the cloak of arachnid(I think there is but not sure)
