I like the suggestion of a character that drains hp to thp. maybe its other ability could allow it to absorb some hit points from necromancy spells that deal damage (maybe 1/8 of damage dealt?)

JimAde: No, I own absolutely nothing 3.5, and I only reference the 3.5 SRD when necessary for the one 3.5 game I play in and occasionally substitute-DM. I've read a bit about the Hexblade on EnWorld but that's all, and the impression I got was that it was a warrior focused on cursing/hexing foes with negative effects, had a weak arcane spell selection, and was generally evil or something. *shrugs, and disappears back into his hidey-hole of 3.0 goodness*

Well the Hexblade does have a lot of "de-buff" effects but it has some good buffs and utility spells too. The spells election IS weak, but it has full BAB progression. You can't have everything unless you're a munchkin.

As to it's being generally evil: the flavor text does say that they're non-good, but I ignore that. There's nothing in the class abilities that's inherently evil. Even lawful good clerics get Bestow Curse, after all.

I get what you're after here. Sort of a Gandalf type? I had a character like that once, I just worked it out with the DM to have a wizard with martial weapons proficiencies and traded a couple class skills for cross-class, and it worked out very well. I know, it's not as fancy as some obscure, extra-source-book-required class, but it definately did the trick for me.
