D&D General Need Magic Longbow Ideas

Confused: when you say "When the damage dice of the Living Bow doubles..." are you referring to when a crit doubles the damage dice or when the two dice for normal damage each show the same number (as in two 3s, two 5s, etc.)?

Soem clarity might be handy here. :)
When the 2d8 damage dice both roll the same value.

Like a pair of 1s, 2s, etc. So if you roll 8+8=16 you activate ability "8:".

On a crit, you roll 4d8 and any pair can be used (but just one).

This means 1 in 8 hits (12.5%) trigger an effect, and (100%-8 choose 4/8^4) = about 60% of crits do.

The goal is to make it go off reasonably often but not all the time, and cause a random useful effect - aoe hinder movement or damage or a pull or a vine appears and grabs a target.

Then, on a rare double 8 we get a long duration aoe effect, with rocks vines and trees all attacking your foes. The chance for the "pair of 8s" on a normal hit is 1/64 and on a crit is about 10%. So it will happen, just never reliably.

Hi, I am trying to come up with stats for the magic longbow in the attached picture

The Evergreen Bow

This bow was crafted in the Feywild. It can use any arrow but plain wood arrows will grow leaves and gain special powers.

As a base power wooden arrows gain the power of the Shillelagh spell, doing 1d8 damage and counting as magic weapons. In addition damage to undead and fungi is rolled with Advantage.

Woodland beings or fey need not attune to this weapon. Others must attune to it to activate the following abilities:

Goodberry: a number of leaves on the bow up to the character's Proficiency Bonus become Goodberries (as per the spell). This may be activated once per Short Rest and in that Short Rest the bow must be exposed to sunlight or planted in soil (or equivalent).

Speak With Plants. As the spell once per Short Rest.

Tree Stride: 1 tree only, once per Short Rest.

If the wielder defeats an undead treant, druid lich, or (insert appropriate Tier 3 monster) then the wielder gains the below powers:

Greater Restoration: once per Long Rest you may cast the spell Greater Restoration. After activating this power the bow can no longer create Goodberries until the end of the Long Rest.

Conjure Volley. Once per Long Rest you may conjure a volley as per the spell. Damage to Undead and Fungi is rolled with Advantage as above.

Quaal's Living Longbow
Attunement optional
Ranged weapon (martial, bow)
Damage: 1d8
Damage Type: Piercing
Properties: Ammunition, Heavy, Range, Two-Handed
Range: 150/600
Weight: 2

Legend has it that this bow was wielded by Quaal himself. It appears to be made of living wood from the Vesve Forest.

When wielded without attunement, it acts as a +1 Longbow. Additionally, if the bow is damaged it will naturally heal itself at a rate of 2HP per day. If broken or split, it will reform itself in one week.

When attuned, the wielder gains an additional ability. Once per long rest, the bow produces one living arrow that can only be extracted by the wielder. When fired from the longbow, the living arrow acts as a Quaal's Feather Token: Tree. The tree springs from the spot where the arrow lands, following the standard rules of the token. If the arrow hits a creature, in addition to normal damage the creature is pushed back 5' and the tree springs from the spot where they stood (or the spot where they were hit in the case of creatures larger than 1 square). If unused, the arrow withers and dies after one day.
