Need suggestions on a character for an evil 1 shot

Ok, One of my friends offered to run a 1 shot evil only day. I'm really looking forward to this since I DM 99.99% of the time and frankly this being an evil 1 shot I want to release my inner munchkin.

We have no idea of the scenario other than evil alignment required and the character should be 8th level. I assume the other PC's will be just as much a threat as the scenario.

Since I’ve seen first hand some of the atrocities you guys can come up with :D , I’m fishing for some suggestions on an 8th level EVIL character (plus I’m at work and don’t have time to fidget with the books). I’m looking for survivability and effectiveness – so probably a cleric of some sort.

Thoughts?

Devote your cash to silent moves armor and a cloak of elvenkind and you can come up with a rogue that nobody in the party can reasonably spot or hear. Especially if someone's playing chaotic evil, that's a pretty good position to be in.

With full ranks, that's a 22 hide and move silently. Even if another player has full in-class ranks in spot and listen (12, which most will not have, due to class restrictions), they only have slightly more than a 50% chance of finding you. Not only that, but you can sneak attack like a bad mother... errr, guy.

I guess you want something that's fun, too.

My proposition: NE Elven Enchanter. High Int (he's smart), high Cha, maybe high Dex (never bad with a wiz). Ban Necromancy (that's dirty stuff, and you don't want to get your hands dirty) any Divination (you can simply ask people what you want to know). Take ranks in several Cha-based skills (diplomacy, intimidate, bluff, gather information) that will help you deal with others without using magic for everything.

He'll be outwardly polite, but will confer the message "I'm better than you" (being a gray or gold elf, depending on the campaign setting, will help), but his intentions will be to exploit others in order to reach his aims.

Feats: Spell focus: Enchantment is a must, maybe greater spell focus (if available), and other feats that will enhance your social skills. Leadership if DM allows it.

Spells: Charm person, suggestion and the like will make others do what you want, confusion and emotion to unsettle them.
You want to have some evocations, when the other can't be reasoned with (or have met the end of his usefulness, though you'll have hold person to deal with that). Some summonings to have some quick support if need be, abjurations to protect you, illusions will help you fool others (particularly change self for camouflage), some transmutations will be nice, too, to enchance yourself and deal with others (poly other will be a must, as you can do lots of evil with it)

I played something similar in adnd (evil campagin) and had truckloads of fun!

good suggestions

I've already worked up a rogue 5/Assassin 3. I'll see how an enchanter looks.

Keep the suggestions comming.

I've always wanted to play an evil cleric (necromatic type) who had the death and evil domains. since its a one shot, just go Cleric. Evil parties need healing to, plus you can be a complete jerk about it. If a CE person in your party hurts you, you don't have to heal him :) 'Oh sure I'll heal you... with an inflict serious wonds'

To empound on the evil cleric idea, I had a cleric idea I wanted to play.

Either go straight cleric, or a little rogue for skills. Instead of going the sneak route, go for Diplomacy, Bluff, maybe some Hide, and your regular skills.

A LE (or maybe NE) cleric of Lies and Trickery. He's a con artist. A short, seemingly unthreatening type guy. And like the Enchanter, he's a manipulater. He's always watching, always keeping tabs.

"You want me to heal you? Sure. First, sign this."

Having the high Diplomacy and a decent Cha would allow him to talk other people into some things normally they wouldn't.

"Listen, we have these people chasing us... would it be too bad if we could slip into your barn? We won't make a peep, and those guys will just pass right on by; no trouble to you."

Not to mention dressing up as a cleric to another god for PR reasons. ;)

I decided I like the thought of an evil cleric who can influence others. This also makes for a believable springboard for the leadership feat, for what’s an evil cleric without meatshields er – faithful followers. ;)
