Need your help to create a 7th lvl Gestalt Cleric-Monk

Negative Zero

First Post
at some point in the near future, our GM is running a game where we'll all be playing 7th level Gestalt-Cleric combinations (using the Gestalt Character rules from Unearthed Arcana). i'm pretty much set on playing a Cleric-Monk and i'm looking for ideas on spells, feats, domains and so on. we haven't been given any restrictions on source books, but i'm pretty sure he won't allow anything that's only published online.

so, how would you make the character?

Multiclass with Gestalt Rogue/Wizard and Paladin/Sorcerer.

Tell the other players not to waste their time turning up.

too late.
i already MADE my gestalt cleric/sorceror.
so when this game happens, i'll be showing up.
:-D

lesee...take spring attack, take the trait from UA that adds to your speed at the cost of 1hp/level, and have fun :-D. I'll be standing in the back targeting my fireballs on you and your high reflex save.

thanks Snoweel, but i think i'll have to save that idea for another game, ;) ...

there are no ideas at all? ... really?

Well, my first bit of advice would be to play a Druid/Monk - better synergy there, what with wildshape + monkish attacks. That, and all the natural buffing spells the druid gets.

But, if you're set on a Cleric, you can't go wrong with the various animal buffing spells (for Ultimate AC Buffing Action get both Owl's Wisdom and Cat's Grace going at the same time...) and brew potion - you can make your own stat-buffing potions that way, and save your spells for other things. Forgo armor, and use your monk abilities. Check with your DM ahead of time if you can cast Magic Vestment on your tunic.

7th, that's 4th level spells. Divine Power, baby!

Destruction domain - smite for +4 to hit, +7 damage 1/day.
Luck domain - for getting you out of those scrapes you'll get yourself in.
Plant domain - for barkskin
Strength domain - for Enlarge, Spell immunity. That, and +7 to your strength, once a day.

Your other option is to be the party mobile healer - tumble all over the place, healing whomever is whereever as needed.

You didn't say how you'll be generating stats, but dump-stat CHA and let somebody else turn undead. I'm sure somebody will bring the Sorceror/Cleric or Paladin/Cleric, let them handle that. Pump lots into Wis, Str, Con, Dex in that order. Don't dump-stat Int, though.

Assuming 32 point buy:
Str: 14
Dex: 14
Con: 14
Int: 12
Wis: 16
Cha: 8

Pump stat boosts into Wis - you'll get the most synergy out of that stat between your two classes.

dialgo, that's kinda a given ... at least that's what i figured! :p

thanks Vargo, those all look like great choices. curse this indecision! ;) i don't know what anyone else is playing yet ... 'cept for Steve's Cleric-Sorceror. altho, since everyone'll be able to heal, the mobile healer might be a bit moot.

Don't count out the "mobile healer" idea. Not everybody will always be able to heal themselves, especially if they go the "damage dealer" route, and are tied up in combat. Casting defensively isn't always an option.

Another thing to consider, is if everybody is a Cleric, then the DM will assume that you'll all be quite capable of healing each other and toss lotsa extra damage your direction. Having at least one person who just does healing (and does it well) is probably a good idea. Gestalt Cleric/Cleric?
