Need your thoughts on prepainted miniatures.

If we were to release non-randomized prepainted miniatures along the lines of the Wizards of the Coast D&D Miniatures Line, would you prefer your miniatures prepainted metal or prepainted plastic?

How can you cost effectively release pre-painted metal figs? Wouldn't that be cost-prohibitive? I'd prefer plastic, since they'd be cheaper.

Plastic.

I'd assume the plastic miniatures would have a lower price point which would make it more attractive and you can always throw a bunch of plastic miniatures in a bag when travelling. With the metal miniatures, there's more concern with chipping the paint, etc.

Depends on the pros and cons of each.

Metal, just to be metal, isn't a winning option.

Metal if the detail is greater and the price controls are in place, yes.

Utterly agreed on all points. Thanks for making it easy for me to reply.

Price has priority for me. There's no way I'm going to buy 10 metal, unpainted goblins for $2 a shot (or more!), regardless of how cool it looks. Now sell me 10 plastic, prepainted goblins for around $3-5 and I'm sold.

Plastic for the reasons given above.

Would definitely like to see another company put out some cheap pre-painted miniatures. Personally, I love to paint metal miniatures and am pretty good at it, imho. However, I'm a SLOW painter and really don't have the time to do it anymore. While WOTC's prepainted minis are hardly GW Heavy Metal quality, they're not bad either and look very good on the gaming table.

I'd certainly purchase some additional prepainted plastic figs from another company. I would recommend you make sure they 'mesh' well with WOTC's figs. Same base size and fig size, that sort of thing...
