Neverwhere.... On DVD?!

Yep--the series was made first. And man, I really wanted to like teh series, but I really didn't: the acting was pretty bad IMO, and the production values were very low. I'm glad other folks enjoyed it, though.

From what I remember Neil wrote the book after being disappointed by the series. In fact he had given up TV has a medium until JMS got him to write a script for B5. Neil was happy with the results of that episode.

I think Neil's quote on Neverwhere the TV series goes something like, "The BBC, put money in, get Dr. Who out."

All that aside, I loved the series and just converted my VHS copy to DVD yesterday.

The book is a LOT better than the series, IMO. Not that the series is that bad, it just does some bits extraordinarily badly, mostly in terms of cheap production values.

The book, on the other hand, is quite, quite brilliant.
