New CB printing madness

And I'm seriously downloading 600+ mb just to print? My service provider has a limit, and I'd rather not have to deal with such file sizes.

You're not downloading the spool file, actually. The Silverlight client on your computer converts the displayed information into a ridiculously sized bitmap file which is then printed. It doesn't use much bandwidth at all from what I can tell.

Printing in CB2 seems rather broken. When I print to my HP Color LaserJet, all I get is three blank pages.

Ridiculous!

I also get the same thing on my HP Color LaserJet. My B&W HP LaserJet does that sometimes too... but at least for that, restarting my browser (and not just the CB window) seems to fix it.

Incidentally, I have CutePDF on my machine, but how do I save to it out of the CB window? I know how to save to an .xps file, but when I print that it cuts off the top cm of each page of power cards - which cuts of the top row's card names, which isn't terribly helpful.

If you have CutePDF installed, it should be as simple as choosing CutePDF as your printer instead of your laserjet.

Look, am I angry about it? yes, and i have access to Acrobat so printing to PDF is not a problem,

But the truth of the matter is there is nothing that can be done about it now, this is a limitation of Silverlight, and WOTC had to use Silverlight to leverage there .NET code they created for the first builder, so basically we're still stuck with a 3 year old stupid decision.

Nothing we say now can fix that.

For extra hilarity, try choosing specific pages/page ranges to print instead of running the whole character sheet. The pages that result are... unpredictable. (At least on my HP printer/scanner/copier in Win7, but I have heard others report the same problem)

A friend of mine that has has a DDI account says that if you use the copy character function then print from that copied character it only sends a 150MB to the printer. He was able to get his character to print by doing it that way.

Printing from XP computers at an underfunded college campus and... I have no problems at all printing. Not one.

Then again after the first day I have yet to suffer a glitch out, so maybe I'm just blessed?

Are you printing to large printer, like a laser printer? The only people that will most likely have a problem printing are those trying to from to home desktop type printers, like ink jets. The issue is that the files that are being sent to the printer are to large for the printer to handle.

Host based laser printers can also give problems. I've seen specific issues between certain HP Laserjets and printing in Acrobat, for example, when printing image heavy documents.
