New Character: Nelzelzebub

It IS a limited time joke. It only lasted a few episodes- maybe half of the first season or so- on 3rd Rock. But things like experiencing your first sneeze (as Sally did)- or in Marvel Comics' Beyonder stories, the aftermath of consuming food for the first time and having the proper use of the facilities explained happened in only a few panels- can help establish the alienness of the PC.

The more serious side of this is would include not necessarily understanding what pain is, why you are thirsty, why a fever is bad...things we've all experienced for decades and instantly understand and react appropriately and nearly instantly to could still be new experiences for this PC...meaning he simply forgets what is supposed to happen.

Playing this up to the fullest would require some forethought and partnership with the DM, so that if/when the PC simply forgets his new body needs sleep and he drives himself to collapse...

Over time, such incidents decrease in frequency, but are never completely eliminated.

Oh, he understands what pain is...after all, he IS from the Abyss. The bodily functions thing will just be glossed over - after all, as an abyssal bloodline, he does become more demonic as time goes by.

Do demons understand and react to pain the same way we do? Somehow, I don't thing they do. Be that as it may...

The Dr Who series is full of beings possessing human bodies. Invariably, there's something...off...about them. Their movement is jerky or twitchy or improbably smooth: they're sketchy on hygiene or obsessed about cleanliness; their use of language is overly formal or awkward.

Depending on your desires, they could be incidental or rise to the level of a flaw.

Here's another thing: Nelzelzebub doesn't have a backstory...nit one he can share with the world, anyway.

There are 3 ways to handle this:
  1. He has composed a fake backstory that he uses every time.
  2. He comes up with new lies about his past nearly every time.
  3. He feigns amnesia.

Each has it's own unique charms from a RP perspective.

depending on the 'audiance' he may eve use all three but on different groups.

party with either 1 or 3
entertaing with 2
different city and a different story
but with the guard of any city, then number 3

Currently feigning amnesia thanks to the magical explosion that thrust him into his current body. He also has a "spellbook" filled with bad poetry in abyssal and a variety of doodles, since he is pretending to be a wizard.

Now, whether his "host" was just some wizard's apprentice or whether his "host" went to a Hogwarts type school would be up to the setting & discussions with the DM. I kinda like the Hogwarts idea just because I like the thought of something actually bad happening when students break rules designed to protect them.

One thing that I'm surprised hasn't come up is what type of demon he was before hand...Glabrezu is a good contender, and so is a Nalfeshnee. Incubus or succubus would lead to *cough* interesting situations.

A quasit does make the most sense, although with a CR 2 rating he'd still be taking a hit in a number of ways now that he's a level 1 PC. And the whole used to flying instead of walking thing.

Still, though, I think there's room for much hilarity, no matter the choice.
