New cover art for the Revised PHB and DMG?

It'll be three years and seems to fit the tradition of D&D core books getting new art. Any talk of this?

Keep an eye on the news page. The second any cover art materialises, it'll be there. These three books are the only 2003 releases we haven't seen the covers of yet.

I wouldn't mind them going back to something a little more traditional style wise with the art and covers. Not that I don't think the art is well done now, i'd just like to see something more old school.

Ya, I wouldn't mind something with a group adventureing or something. These locked tomes looks bore me.

Gah, I appear to be the only one who likes the new style. I think the "mystic tome" look of the new books is very refreshing (and of stunning quality). There are a gajillion RPG books out there with an "old feel" to them. D&D is the one that started it all, and it should remain distinguished by having those different covers. I hope the basic style of them is kept.

Death to the "dungeon-punk" style of character art. Weapons, armor and shields look as they do for a reason- it's functional!

Seconded. I don't mind some of the new art (Wayne's magic items and dungeon features are among the best D&D has seen), but it has been taken far beyond the "strange unusual", to the realm of "annoying". I want knights and wizards in my game, not those freaks in buckles and whatnot.
[edit] Oh yes, and I don't like the 2e art, either.[/edit]

well i for one love both the "new" d&d art and the covers of the core rule books. the core books as they currently stand have a classic, dignified air that a group of adventurers, no matter how well-depicted, would detract from.

I completely agree. Somehow these locked tomes appear more serious and more valuable as they stand on the shelf :D
