New Dark Tower Novels

"Here's the scoop on the new material I've added to The Gunslinger. The idea was to bring The Gunslinger in line with the material in the new books as well as the material in the first four. The other thing I wanted to do was to rewrite to some degree for language because I always felt it had a different feel than the other books because I was so young when I wrote it. The material is about an additional 10% (about 35 manuscript pages) with changes on almost every page."

It almost sounds like how lucas reinvented the star wars movies to bring them in line with the new stuff.

I love the darktower series and will likely go through the new 'slinger as fast as possible.

Any body else here expecting the Tower to fall? i have this hunch that it may be how steve-o retires from writing.

Oh Who elsehere is ROYALY P.O.ed that the director of the Hearts in atlantis ripped out ALL the dark tower stuff?

I didnt know their was any till a friend told me as I havent read the book. But yes...it would be nice if the movies would keep the references and allusions. Heck a whole DT series of movies would be nice.
I think the Talisman and Insomnia would make good movies also.
Anyone have theories on the exact relationship between the Talisman(the object itself) and the Tower?
I HOPE the Tower doesnt fall. I hope SK comes through with a good ending..as he usualy does.

READ the first story in Hearts; Low men in yellow coats. It is very important to the Tower. One of the reasons why i fear the tower may fall. I'll say more if you don't want to read the book on this.

I would Love to see the DT novels animated [ real animation, NOT CG ]. The whole tower series seems to lend itself to anime, from those paintings in the books [ i like the paintings of 1, 3, 2,and four in that order] to the way Roland reloads his bullets. Unfortuanaly finding a studio to do an animated R rated epic would be difficult.

have you read Black house yet? a sort of sequal to the Talisman and lots of tower mythos to it.

Yea I got it almost as soon as it came out. It still didnt clear up for me the Talisman/Tower relationship much. Is the Talisman just another aspect of the Tower as the Rose is do you think?
hearts in atlantis is short stories then? I will pick it up once I get a few other things done money wise..

LOVE the Dark Tower books.

I started reading Stephen King when I was around 10 or so and was just never interested in the Dark Tower books. Gunslingers? I wasn't looking for a western, I was looking for horror!

A year or two ago, a friend finally convinced me that I needed to read them so I did, and surprisingly enough, found them to be King's best work. In my oh so humble opinion, of course.

Wizard and Glass was by far my favorite. I was just sucked into it.

So, yes, I am bouncing up and down at the thought of the next book coming out.

For any Dark Tower fan, Black House is a MUST READ. Even more than Talisman is.
