New DDI aps

You are right. I guess I am feeling like we aren't getting what we are paying for.
Um... you mean "We aren't getting what we will be paying for when we start getting it"?

I will not pay for DDI unless I see the full product and it is trully as useful as they made it seem when they pitched 4e to us.
You certainly shouldn't pay for something you don't want. I'm pretty sure we'll get a chance to see the main stuff for free before it goes pay.

You are right. I guess I am feeling like we aren't getting what we are paying for. I don't feel like the online tools are that useful. In my opinion, it feels like they gave us something that the scratched together to appease us and they are minimally useful at best. I feel like they are telling us "if you want the rest, you have to pay us more. " I will not pay for DDI unless I see the full product and it is trully as useful as they made it seem when they pitched 4e to us.
This is entirely reasonable to me. I differ in opinion, mind you, but I still find it reasonable.

As far as I know, we're discussing DDI, not 4E. I realize DDI materials are to be considered "core" in 4E, but I don't buy the notion that 4E is "incomplete". Buy yourself a copy of the 4E PH, MM, and DMG, and you've got a complete, functional, and perfectly enjoyable game. Hence, I disagree that the "completion" of 4E is at all relevant to this discussion.

I'm not suggesting no one criticize WotC, I'm suggesting they keep their criticisms fair.
What makes the criticism fair is that WotC billed the books as just one of the four core elements of 4e. Another of those was DDI and the virtual table.

And without getting off-track, I do see problems with describing 4e as functional and enjoyable.

You're right. WotC did say that DDI would ultimately be a central element of the "4E D&D experience". You're also right that DDI does not yet deliver what was promised it would. Luckily for us, WotC also isn't yet charging us what they said they would for it! This is a major point.

And without getting off-track, 4E D&D is a completely functional game; this is a fact. I find 4E D&D to be a completely enjoyable game; this is my opinion. You may disagree about whether or not 4E D&D is enjoyable, Felon - your opinion on that matter is no less important than mine, nor is mine less important than yours - but the "completeness" of 4E D&D is not up for discussion; 4E is a complete and fully functional game that many are already enjoying in its current form.

If you wish to turn this into an edition war, fork it over, bro.
