WoTC just posted the newest Dragon article, a tie-in to the new Dragons of Eberron sourcebook by Amber Scott. It's Eberron specific, but I think it has some nice utility for any campaign setting:

Agreed. Nice utility. EDIT: And I dig the art. Nice illo.

2 things I have a question about

1) Isnt this the kinda thing you normally get in a web enhancement? (do they still do that? Haven't bought a WOTC book since...hmm..2004..barring the basic set I bought..err Santa bought..for my son last Xmas ;) )

And

2) shouldn't this be something you'd find in Dungeon? Or is the DM material distinction of Dungeon going bye bye with the new format?

When I first read this article, I too thought it was similar to a CW article from Dungeon. CW might be making the transition back to Dragon.

Back in the early days of 3e, we used to get Dragon issues related to the current new product from Wizards. Having it this way really doesn't bother me much.

And the idea that Dragon=players, Dungeon=DMs never worked too well. Rather, Dragon=game articles and Dungeon=adventures is a far clearer divide.

Cheers!

I agree...except for Dungeoncraft, I'm fairly comfortable moving the other CW articles to Dragon or both magazines sharing this type of content.

The CR 25 hoard contains several 200 year old standards; however, two of the nations mentioned (Q'Barra and Valenar) did not exist 200 years ago.

Mistakes can be adventures in disguise. the style, fabric, design all things point to an age of two centuries, but these nations were not founded so long ago! How can such artifacts exist? Magical forgeries? Or are they something stranger yet?

I'll predict that a significant number of Eberron fans will be griping because this articles "cheapens dragons into creatures that sit on hoards for adventurers to loot."

Its a game. Called Dungeons and Dragons. Players raid dungeons and kill dragons. Adventurers are the main characters, not greedy lizards some game designers have elevated to Gawd-like status over the last two editions.

If the Players are not supposed to kill dragons and take their hordes, neither need to be stated out.

Nice little article, great art. I'm hoping that we start to see a bit more imagination in the layout of these things soon though.

To the question of, "Isn't this normally a web-enhancement?"... can we expect to hear that asked *every time* Wizards releases an article in Dungeon?
