New Edition of Creature Collection 1?

Though I see financial reasons for not providing a large download for the revision of the old CC1, this is a bad move. I won't buy the new one, cause I spent enough money on the first release. I'll even go that far that I consider not buying any stuff of a company with such a bad consumer service. This is a rather annoying issue.

Speaking as someone with no vested interest in S&S (I've never even submitted a spell or monster to them):

I suppose it's a tricky line to walk when revising earlier books. If the new version does indeed prove to have updated stats, revised artwork, new racial info, and (according to at least one rumor) some new monsters, then I don't see where a download was feasible. However, the counter argument might be that the revised stats could have been released as a download, with the new and significantly updated material saved for the upcoming CC III.

It sounds like this revised CC I is falling someplace between a true revision and a whole new book, and I can certainly understand where that could be bothersome.

it seems the new version may include new artwork and info on the Scarred Lands races.

They better have to ! Otherwise, it's adding insult to injury. If you don't have CC1.0, one advice, don't buy it. The best piece of art are OK at best, the worst are... Really the worst. I thought Cobb was the "artist" that made the most ugly and uninteresting pictures for White Wolf, but with CC1.O I discovered the work of Guy Davis, who polluted many of this book's page; and that's ugliness and skilllessness incarnate. Even the skecthy spilled ink pictures that also plagued that book were better and more accurate !

Well, since I still regret buying it the first time, I won't be buying it the second. There's a lot of interesting creatures in there, but too many are broken for me to trust any of them without good rewrites. Which I'm not interested in paying for.

I've held off because of the mechanical problems of I even though I've had the opportunity to get it at 50% off a few times. I'm glad they are doing a revision, but I wish they would put it out as a pdf as well (or even a year or so later as bastion did with minions).

It most certainly does need a revision, and a big one. I also agree that the art should be pulled up a grade or two, as like was said, I was under the impression for ages that incarnates (or exemplars..one of the two) had massive heads akin to something like what you would see at mardi gras.
As for paying for it, I am dissapointed that they didnt do an errata, but if it means getting the creatures fixed then so be it.

Alright, Alright I'm here!

To start with, the Creature Collection Revised WILL be out in January (when in January I don't know)

Secondly, as why they didn't just put up errata, is two fold. One it would take a MASSIVE rewrite of the book when a new book with lots of new stuff (such as an appendix for racial stat modifers for the SL races, an appendix detailing how to fit in MM monsters in the setting (along with a short biographical piece), and I believe an appendix for the new created templates (Unhallowed is one, Morgants are another and Hags are also a template. Which makes sense if you read the info on hags.) Also the reason for a new book is CC1 is finishing out it's print run. Therefore it was either a) send out a book that had a poor grasp of the present rules along with some shoddy artwork. Or b) make a new book with better art (plus the help of people like Scott Greene of now Tome of Horror fame), with new appendixes useful for all.

Thirdly like to thank the guys that have stepped in for me while I was taking my nap for the day.

Well, seeing as how I only paid $7 for the original CC (used copy in mint condition) I don't mind shelling out the extra cash for a revised and updated version of the book. Your typical S&S hardcover is alot cheaper than most other hardcovers so I'm not worried about the cost.

True. And I do think the new artwork has to be better. I still shudder at the thought of the Albadian Wardog.

Also as to the Exemplar question, this was addressed a while go (on the outset of Secrets and Societies) that Exemplars WOULD be a prestige class and would be look at first Termana but now with the Desert of Onn being moved to Asherak, they are Asherakians (funny sounding word folks! :) )

Oh yeah there's also the player's guide for Wizards, Bards and Sorcerers coming out in Feburary, along with the Penumbral Pentagon (letting you in on Dar'Tan's inner circle) and in March, Shelzar will be released.
