One of the barrier's of entry was the high PDF prices. At $40 for the Player's Handbook, for instance, one might as well buy the hard copy and PDF for $60.I was into 4e when it came out but they printed so many books and it was so crunchy I could never get a game going with my normal group. Then 5e came out and it was different and novel enough, but I didn't have a group around to really play the game at all. If I do get this, will probably stick to PDFs.
At least there was Basic for free and Basic Plus for $1, though.
