New Feat: Fate Casting

Well, the average DC on this is gonna end up being 10.5 + ability mod. + level. So, in the long run it's a positive boost (somewhat).

The problem, however, is that it makes what ought to be simple casting with little to no chance of failure complete pot-lucks. If you want this feat to be viable, allow the caster the option to "take 10" on the roll at their option.

From a flavor perspective, this means that from time to time the mage may decide to control more power than he/she would normally be able to do. This introduces a chaotic aspect that may actually reduce the spell's potency. But of course, the spellcaster may decide the risk isn't worth it, and cast a normal DC 10 + ability mod. + level.

That's exactly what the feats does, you have the "option" to roll a d20, but you may cast any spell the old fashioned way as well.

And as pointed out, the feat does give a .5 boost to dc, but is that enough?

I like that idea of adding/subtracting 2 to the DC, that might work well.

And yes, you may use the feat on your site:)

I have to agree with those above who say the feat doesn't grant enough of a bonus. If it represents the mage trying to channel more power than he is normally able, then maybe make the DC = 11 (or 12) + spell level + ability mod. That way, on average, they're getting a significant(sp) boost.
