New Feat Idea.

Maybe not exactly new, but I wanted to see what everyone thought. My friend's reaction at first was "whoa," followed by, well I guess that's not really that powerful.

First Strike

Preresiquites: BAB +10, Greater Weapon Focus (melee weapon), Weapon Focus (melee weapon)

Benefit: While wielding a weapon with which you have Greater Weapon Focus, if an opponent enters or begins his turn in your threatened range, and proceeds to engage in a melee attack against you, you immediately get a full attack against said opponent. You may not make a 5-foot move as part of this full attack. Your initiative is now set immediately before your opponent. You can choose not to take the attack and maintain your current initiative. Only one such attack may be initiated each round. You may not use this ability if you are flat-footed.

Special: If the opponent also has this feat, no attack is granted, and normal initiative order is maintained. This feat does not apply against opponents who have Supreme Initiative.
A fighter may select First Strike as one of his fighter bonus feats.

If I'm reading this right, you basically get two full attack actions per round against a target? The one he provokes, and the one you normally get on your turn?

No.

I would not allow back-to-back full attack sequences. This idea is almost identical in concept to the thread on rerolling initiative, however, so I presume that those who favor rerolling initiative would have no problem with this feat.

the way i read it... your turn just get moved forward... so if someone is attacking you... you will always have a chance to hit them first...

I would think Improved Initiative would be a prerequisite. Makes it less necessary, but it fits with the concept of what you would have to know first to be able to do the feat.

This would be fine with the following two caveats:

(1) You may only invoke this feat if your initiative has not yet come up in the round, and

(2) Invoking this feat merely moves your initiative forward. It does not permit you to take a full attack and then take your normally allotted actions.

I believe that's what was inteded as well. Can you do this if you have already acted in the current round? If so, that's two full-round actions in the same round, which could be pretty powerful. If not, more careful wording is needed.

Assuming you can't get two full attacks off in a single round, I don't think it's too horribly powerful. I'd probably require Combat Reflexes as a prerequisite. How does this interact with a charge? Is there any way to circumvent it other than having the same feat? Can it apply if the attacker is invisible or otherwise has concealment (I would think not)?
