New Feat to mimic Knight ability?

But what I like so much about the knight is that their restrictions ARE mechanical. Instead of the vagueness of the paladin's code (and the many arguments about what is and is not included therein) you have mechanical restrictions against flanking and attacking flat-footed opponents.

Hrm. Point. I suppose all I can say is that I felt those weren't designed to balance it, from a mechanical perspective, but as a flavour thing. As in, the Knight would not suddenly be significantly more powerful if he could do those things. Still, you've got a point. :)

Essentially what I'm after is a chain-fighter who, ideally, never attacks on his own turn but instead challenges/goads from 10 feet away forcing the target(s) to come to him and using AoO's (combat reflexes) to lay down the smack and then moving back another 10 feet at the end of turn. It's the standard chain-monkey build but I think the goad/challenge idea improves it intensely because it eliminates the targets just using the 5-foot step rule. They HAVE to come to me if they fail their save.

This is the point where I'd toss in the towel and say "nope, suck it up. This or nada." Just 'cause that smells like cheese. ;) That said, your plan wouldn't actually work, I think, as Test of Mettle specifically states that they do not have to move to you if it would provoke attacks of opportunity, and in such a case can even attack other targets.

Actually, I realized it won't work because Goad is a move action. That and other reasons listed above.

Back to the drawing board. Thanks, folks.
