I mean, for me writing poetry is like licking the electric third rail. It is often very uncomfortable, but satisfying.I would never describe inspiration as uncomfortable, no.

If so, then a lot of entertainment isn’t art and shouldn’t be. I prefer other definitions of art, personally. You're not wrong, but god this depresses me. The whole point of art is to make the observer uncomfortable; to remind them that there is a gulf between perceived and experienced reality.
I don’t normally find it so, no. And that’s true even when I aim to make the audience uncomfortable. Is inspiration not uncomfortable?
Warlock and a Bard, I thinkThe description seems like a rogue and a bard
Yeah, I'm rather bitter about the label myself, especially after hearing how it and "cozy fantasy" have been used as drawers to put all women who write fantasy into, leading to harassment from the terminally online against women who include "uncomfortable" subjects like incest or suicide...in a gothic horror novel. Not all fantasy romance is "romantasy."
As with a lot of things, there’s a healthy balance. All body systems grow weak if they aren’t regularly stressed, and also constant stress is bad for all body systems. We need a mix of periods of stress and periods of rest to maintain optimal functionality. Which I’m sure you’re well aware of, I just think it’s an interesting thing about how bodies work that we need frequent, but not constant, challenge to stay healthy. If so, then a lot of entertainment isn’t art and shouldn’t be. It’s not healthy to spend all day with your pulse and blood pressure where they are when exercising - I presume you know that. Likewise, it’s unsafe to run a vehicle flat-out all the time. Well, stress, depression, and the like also exist. They are physical phenomena in your brain and mine, and they do measurable physical damage to various tissues and organs. People need relief from the toll they take, and that relief is entertainment.
Unfortunately, society will find any excuse to put women in drawers and harass us. If it wasn’t this it’d be something else.Yeah, I'm rather bitter about the label myself, especially after hearing how it and "cozy fantasy" have been used as drawers to put all women who write fantasy into, leading to harassment from the terminally online against women who include "uncomfortable" subjects like incest or suicide...in a gothic horror novel.
I mean, I wouldn’t call “cozy” an accusation. Cozy media has its place. Not for nothing, but millennial transwomen as a cohort are writing some of the best speculative fiction and horror on the market right now, and no one accuses them of writing "cozy" stuff.
