A parrying feat? Isn't that what Expertise is for?

Anyone know why the "Search" feature is disabled for members? I'd sure like to be able to dig up the thread on this issue of Dragon.

I thought the masterwork performances were a nice idea, although some of them seemed a little to expensive in terms of Perform slots.

I didn't have a problem with it. I'd rather have the ability to get a +10 on my performing checks then have the ability to play the lute, piccalo and the gnomish string-picker, myself. I find that most bard characters never use but one or two of their performing options.

On topic as to the magasine: at the risk of being cliche, I drooled. A lot. I much prefer the CC to the old "Whee, let's make Wizard's sales go up" approach. I can safely say that the last CCs have not left out anything I would have liked to see in there.

Whose idea was it to put the strange character sheet in Phil and Dixie's Most Honorable Place? It felt weird seeing them in the middle of the issue.

Wasn't really thrilled by Ecology of the Troll. I prefer the method where they told a story that highlighted their abilites and society in the form of footnotes.

This is going to be one of those issues I save for years to come.

I agree that the Campaign components series is very interesting and hopefully will continue to be offered for a while...

As for the Character Sheet, I saw these at GenCon originally and thought they were nice looking but not very useful...I’m sure other people will have a use for them though...

and as far as placement in the magazine, the only things I get upset with not finding in its usual place is the TOC...I hate having to look for it in between 25 pages of ads.

My major complaint about this issue is that it's missing an article that was promised last month: The Beastiary: Born Fair and Foul, which was going to be written by Gwendolyn F.M. Kestrel. According to the preview, that article was going to give us Changelings and Unseelie Fairies.

Darnit, where are the Fair Folks?

Out of interest, where are you buying Dragon from?

I got issue 301 and many more recent issues from They Walk Among Us, Richmond, Surrey. I think they have a website, but a quick google search didn't turn it up...sorry.

Good shop. Stocks games stuff (d20 and others), comics, Pc and console games, and many sorts of collectible card games and collectible toys (ie star wars action figures type things). Very friendly staff too!

Highly recommended for anyone in the area!

PS: Where are you in England, Jarval? If you're in London I may know of some games you could join, if you wished.

That's not in there?

Arrrgh!

I was looking forward to that more than anything else in the issue.

Yes. Not to mention the options of fighting defensively and total defense, with or without the extra bonus from Tumbling.

But some people don't feel like they're parrying unless they have to bounce a die to do so. I'm not one of them, but I can understand the point of view.

I can't see how it could help but to slow down combat and make things less suitable for a "swashbuckling" game myself. Though I could see it for a martial-arts campaign where the intricate blow-by-blow was valued more than a fast pace of action, where the martial art in question just happened to be fencing.

Firstly, to whoever said they were paying less than £5 for it in the UK, I paid £3.50 for mine...

Hello Tallarn :)

I paid £4.99 for 300 and £3.99 for 301, both at Orc's Nest.

I haven't had time to look at 301 properly, so I can't comment on the swashbuckling article yet.

Please let me know the address & tel. no. for They Walk Among Us. I'd like to check it out.

Did you know that there's a stall in Ealing shopping centre that sells a similar range of products including RPG's? It's opposite the Games Workshop. The details are:

And So It Begins (ASIB)
Kiosk 7, St Saviours Mall
Ealing Broadway Centre
London W5 5JY

Tel. 020 8579 2244
ASIB e-mail

All the best,

Zander
