New Magic Items

I'll post this here, a magic item my character is toying with plans for, but won't work out completely for another two levels:

Lens of Aura Detection - This glass disk, about 8" across, is inscribed with sigils around the rim and may seem to glow faintly. Any character that holds it the proper distance in front of her face can detect magical emanations as if under the effect of a Detect Magic spell. When using the Lens, the character may take no other actions besides movement (at normal speed) and must make a Concentration check (DC 5) each round or detect nothing other than the presence or absence of auras.

Faint divination; CL 3rd; Craft Wondrous Item, detect magic; price: 500 gp

i have been looking at the formulas for pricing more carefully in the DMG. Fazul's ring should actually cost only 250gp since the formula reads (spell level^2)*1000gp. The spell level is 1/2 for a 0-level spell. I have edited that above.

If there were more slots offered by the ring then the second would be at a cost of 75% of the first and additional slots at 50% of the first. So:
Two 0-level slots = 437.5gp
Three slots = 562.5gp
Additional slots = 125gp each

This formula seems a bit cheap to me without a limit on the number of slots. Consider a ring that increases the level-1 spell slots:
1 = 1000gp
2 = 1750gp
3 = 2250gp
4 = 2750gp

For level-2 spells:
1 = 4000gp
2 = 7000gp
3 = 9000gp
4 = 11,000gp

These things seem quite cheap to me. I would LOVE to have 4 extra spell slots for level-1 or 2 spells at these prices. Any ideas? Am I using the guides correctly?

The formula may be trying to say that adding each spell slot costs that much more. For a first level ring:

1st spell slot: 1000 gp.
2nd spell slot: 1750 gp
Each additional spell slot: 1500 gp

So a two-spell ring costs 2750, three costs 4250, four 5750. For level-two rings, this progression is 11,000 - 17,000 - 23,000; somewhat more reasonable for LOTS more spell slots.

This would make Fazul's ring cost 250, 687.5, 1062.5, with 375 gp for each additional slot. This seems rather expensive for level-0 spells, but for higher-level spells, extra spell slots are exponentially more useful.
