New Names for Base Classes

I don't know about anyone else but I find the base class names to be pretty lame. I mean if I say I am a 3rd level fighter it tells me a lot about my character but 3rd Level Strong Hero tells me squat. Has anyone thought about some better names to give a better feel?

The reason the class names are so vague is so that they can be used generically-- so that the classes don't evoke a specific image on their own and can be modified to fit whichever character role you're trying to build.

(There was a discussion of alternate names both here and on Wizards' board, but it went down to the ridiculous. Feel free to change them in your campaign but don't make them too specific.)

It tells you he's strong and he's a hero. His occupation tells you more specifically his place in society, but for adventuring purposes it's not just the fact that a person is a soldier that makes his a worthy companion --- it's the fact that he's strong and heroic.

Generalized classes need generalized names.

For my steampunk adventure, I thought about using old-fashioned sounding adjectives for extra flavor ---"Doughty", "Sinewy", "Learned" --- but since the players were all new to d20 Modern, I didn't want to complicate matters any further.

The names are right as rain. Your character is using his strength, so he's a strong hero. Not that you can always give your character concept a name (actually, you should) - the classes and levels are just the components you use to build that character concept. So you won't say "Im a Strong/Fast Hero", you'll say "Im a martial artist". Note that you don't need the AdC Martial Artist to be one.
