New OCCULT ADVENTURES Preview Looks At Auras

There's a new Occult Adventures preview, this time over at iO9. This one takes a look at the concept of auras - alignment, emotion, health, and magic auras. As designer Jason Bulmahn says, "Take auras for example. With these rules at your disposal, you can grant your player characters a new way to interact with the characters and monsters around them. Is the wolf giving off a bright red aura, then it is best to leave it alone or prepare for a fight. Is the merchant radiating an oily green aura, then it might be a good idea to reconsider the value of that sword you were about to buy."

I think it is an awful idea at every level. Made out purely for those who do not want thee hassle of thinking and roleplaying.

I'm not quite sure why you are so annoyed with this. The paladin has been detecting evil for decades, this is essentially the same thing just with different classes. /shrug
I do have to admit when I read this though it takes me back to times when I played everquest and the enemies had little rings around them to identify how "hard" the enemy was...
