New Organized Play Program (D&D Adventurer's League

Does this League have anything to do with Mike's arcane twitter answers regarding character creation? As in, does this somehow involve a free player booklet or something you can use to make a character with?
We are going to be so teased these next couple months.

Mike just mentioned that the Adventurer's League Players Guide or what have you will be free. I hope it's a pamphlet or a booklet, but I could deal with an online PDF.

I just think having a free pamphlet to make a character with in stores, on the counter like a demo CD or a free comic book, would be awesome (and great for the FLGS).

Any chance of this working online through Roll20 or other VTT programs, I could stream my games to youtube or twitch to make them public I guess?

I am going to run Tyranny of Dragons on Roll20, but would love to make it an organized play experience.

Yeah I hope it is not just stores and conventions. The nearest WotC store to me is 90 minutes drive away. Also, although it is mentioned as a place to get D&D, it is a card and boardgame shop. There has never been any RPG stuff in there, although maybe I could order some?

Really excited about the new Organized Play D&D Adventurer's League!

I wonder who are the community, content and ressource managers? I'd throw a wild guess and say: #DreamTeam

Community Manager: Dave Christ
Content Manager: Shawn Merwin
Ressource Manager: Teos Abadia

I hope I can get my hands on those cool goodies without playing at a game store.

Because, in my experience, playing at a noisy game store with random strangers is the opposite of fun.

I actually enjoy throwing some games with strangers into the mix. I find that I learn a lot about rules interpretation, character optimization, and role-playing during such games. That said, I'm not sure about the participation of any local stores with this program (there aren't many local gaming stores to begin); and, as such, I'm concerned about the degree of participation that I will be able to have with this campaign.
