Yep, there's a tradition that Mr. Darling and Hook are played by the same actor. I think it's mentioned on one of the websites. Maybe something to do with Father-Is-Bad-Guy so Same-Guy-Plays-Real-Bad-Guy too. Dunno, really.

It was very much implied in the book, itself. And it's more like the father is the "real" bad guy, and Hook represents him. There is, after all, reason to believe that the whole thing is a dream/hallucination. Or else Neverland is somewhat representative of Wendy's dreams/imagination.
