Hello everyone, I’m Necroblivion, CEO and co-founder of TPK Games. As a brand new third party publisher I’m sure there are a lot of people wondering who we are and what we are about. I’ll happily give you some insight into our mindset.
First and foremost we are a third party publisher for the Pathfinder RPG. We are making a number of different products for use with the game, all of which are intended to be intense and fun. We have several lines intended for the GM and player resources will be forthcoming. Also, we will be releasing some very large adventures that we hope will live up to our namesake.
But we aren’t just about selling ourselves. We are all very dedicated to the hobby in general, and have a convention circuit in the Midwest where we demo the Pathfinder RPG to people who have never tried the game, or are enthusiasts looking to try out some of our products (find us on Facebook for those photos). We strongly feel that roleplaying is a great hobby and that more people should be exposed to it. Few companies are out there making new gamers, so we are taking up that challenge.
Those of us at TPK Games also want to take a moment to thank those who have helped make our rise possible. Truly, we are dwarves on the shoulders of giants. This is also our thank you thread to all who have come before, all who have made this possible, and all of our fellow gamers who keep perpetuating the hobby. This might be just a game, but to us it is a lifestyle, hobby and a philosophy.
My first thank you goes out to Paizo. We joined the Pathfinder (r)evolution right from the onset as players. I was completely let down by the current incarnation of that other big fantasy game. Excited as we were for a new edition, it wasn’t what we wanted, and when we finished with our first module, those books were archived and later sold on ebay. A decent game in its own right, it isn’t what we wanted, and when Pathfinder was released and we started to play, it became the new standard in fantasy gaming. Paizo has done a truly fantastic job with the game, and their products. From day one, they have sought to interact and take feedback from their fans and use that feedback to provide superior products. I for one took note of that.
In addition, the continuation of the OGL through Pathfinder is brilliant business strategy, and good for the fans. We design 3PP products because we believe in the game and want to give a little back to the community.
Next, my sincere thanks to the other third party providers. Many of you have provided my various gaming groups with some outstanding products. Most of you have been very forthcoming on the forums about the business aspects of being a 3PP. There are even a few of you that I have spoken to at length about our entry to the business. Again, you have our sincere thanks.
Lastly, and most importantly I thank the fans for their support. The gaming community is a tight one, and I have made so many friends in real life and over the internet through gaming. Being a small press company, we have the luxury of printing what we like, not necessarily what we must pander to make money. There are plenty of other large corporations to do that already. We want to give a little back and create some memorable products that will enhance the fun factor of every gaming table as our thanks.
I hoist my phylactery to you fine ladies and gentlemen (naturally, my phylactery is a beer mug…). Here’s to our friends and good gaming!
