Message: <blockquote data-quote="JacksonTT" data-source="post: 2558634"><p>I was running Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil for my friends back in Florida.  It was an incredibly chaotic party, consisting of a half-orc barbarian/sorceror/rage-mage, an elven archer, a tiefling bard, a half-elven selunite cleric, an elven ninja, a human cleric of (i think) Oghma, and a bugbear fighter/thief/devoted defender.  We'd gotten through the entire adventure, with several party deaths, and we were finally like two rooms away from the final encounter, when we were suddenly attacked by a purple worm.  The purple worm got hold of Zek, the bugbear, and started to swallow him whole.  The party only had a round to act, so everyone was trying to save him, but nothing was working fast enough.  At the last second, Boo, the tiefling bard fired off a prismatic spray spell at the worm.  It hit with the ray that planeshifts you randomly, and both Zek and the purple worm failed their saves and disappeared.  The entire party promptly abandoned the quest to save the world(two rooms away from the end!) to travel to Ysgard to get Zek back, prompting an entirely new and fun adventure.  This should serve as a warning to DM's: Never get too comfortable, you can NEVER predict what your party will do.</p></blockquote><p></p>
