New Release - After Sunset: Werewolves

My point is that in many cases, publishers are paying a lower comission rate at the ENGS, and have also paid their activation fee. If they choose to link to the ENGS in their press release, and not their website (or both) then it is very well possible that they want to make sales based on that lower comission rate. Posting links in reply to their press release directing people to a place that they pay a higher rate seems to be harmful to the publisher.

Well, it's a message board. People posting things is kinda the point.

Edit: To which I'll add - that's one of the potential pitfalls of posting press releases on a public message board. After all, someone could come along and post a negative review or comment right after the press release. That's just the risk a publisher takes. Unless you turn this forum into a moderated one (or you change the rules of the board for this particular forum), and just allow press releases in, people can post whatever unsolicited links they want.

As I said on the IRC, this is not even a debate and is for the Publisher to decide whats in their best interest for their business. If an ENWorld user does not have the right to alter this, then why should ENWorld? After all, ENWorld is a news site.. not Whats news after filtering site. Some publishers will figure out, why bother sending a news scoop to ENWorld and just do it elsewhere, suddenly ENWorld starts to lose what makes it the place to go. Was it not Morrus who came to us and asked for help keeping this place up and running so we would have one place to go to for New and Information, Morrus if you are listening, we are now asking you for this very same thing.

Important Note: I am only commenting on the Press Releases, what sigs are allowed and whats allowed in them should be dictated by ENWorld as they feel free.

Exactly. I know of quite a few of the more successful PDF publishers (my own company included), who would have been more likely to give ENGS a shot immediately if the strong-arm tactic wasn't in effect. As it is right now, signing up (even ignoring the results of the poll regarding customer purchase habits), would feel a bit too much like rewarding that sort of behavior.

Attracting more flies with honey than with vinegar, and all that.....

I'll be off to post lots of links to ENGS over at RPGNow, then.

However, to clarify, man-thing may be being fairly rude but he's not breaking any rules. The policy - as I've said some twenty billion trillion times now - applies to publishers and their press releases.

man-things's crusade, though, is extremely rude.

I don't believe I have engaged in personal attacks, name-calling, or blanket generalizations. I don't believe I've used any obscenities in my postings. I've simply posted links to a publisher's product and a public forum of which I am a member.

Can you provide me with an example of how I've acted in a rude manner.

Don't be cute, man-thing. It's not clever, and it's not funny.

Launching a "crusade" in someone else's house is rude. There are more mature ways to deal with issues you don't agree with.

And note, also, if you really want to be pedantic about the exact wording of rules, there are rules governing how issues with board policy and moderator/admin decisions are to be handled, and some people are blantantly breaking those rules. I've been lenient about it up until now, but my patience is wearing thin.

You start one thread promoting a product that lets people play werewolves that have kung-fu, trenchcoats and shotguns, and look what happens:)

Seriously folks, while I appreciate that this is a hot topic for everyone at the moment, could we potentially move it elsewhere...you know, on the off chance someone would like to post something about the product?

Sorry, for being involved in the threadjacking here. I will not return to this thread unless I have something to say about the product. Thank you for your patience.

What other creations are in the works for the After Sunset line.

If I get this, the new EoM, and a book for vampires I'll have something for each of my players.

The short-list of products I've got planned for the next couple of months:

After Sunset: Vampires - the companion to Werewolves, with rules for playing vampire PC's from low levels.

After Sunset: The Chernevog - A look at a underworld organisation with supernatural ties to a group of russian-born darkness spirits.

After Sunset: The Fallen - PC rules for playing anglic beings that have been locked out of heaven and forced to war with the supernatural creatures on earth.

Beyond that, the details get sketchy. I've got a long list of ideas and things I want to hit upon, but a lot will depend on how well the line sells and what people really want to see :)

I picked After Sunset: Werewolves up this week and read it tonight - color me impressed. :) There's a couple of other products dealing with werewolves out there (werewolf as template, werewolf as character class), but I really liked the new approach you took - *combining* the werewolf as a PC race species and werewolf as a heroic base class for PC werewolves with more "howl". The werewolf talent trees are pretty cool too, and on par with the standard heroic base classes (Greater Lycanthrope Talent Tree, Hybrid Damage Reduction Talent Tree, and Inner Beast Talent Tree. I know that the flavor text presents lycanthropy as inherrited (true lycanthropes), but kudos for including the options at the end which allow for infected (transmitted) lycanthropy.

I really look forward to further releases in this line. :)

And sorry your press release got hijacked with all this nonsense.
