So I know a lot of players skip over components instead of tracking their inventories all the time and the issue only comes up if the caster it bound or gagged, but how many people really like using them? I think they add to the panache of a caster. But I also think more variety would be good.
So, instead of just material, verbal, and somatic, I recommend some new ones:
Temporal: The spell must be cast at a specific time or date, such as "high noon" or "when the stars are right".
Location: The spell must be cast in a specific place or type of location, such as on a mountain top, on holy ground, or facing North.
Sacrifice: A sacrifice need not be bloody, it can be anything of value, such as your virginity or honour. Or it can just be straight cash value. Sacrificing food or an animal is common in religious rituals that would be considered "spells" if magic worked in our world.
Thoughts? Any other categories that can be added?
