new spell

i've come up with this new spell and would like to hear your thoughts about it. is it overpowerd/underleveld? is it underpowerd/overleveld? any other comments you have will be appricieted.



kol's explosion
evocation [force]
level: wiz/sor 7
components: V S
casting time: standard action
range: medium (100ft. + 10ft./level)
area: 20ft. radius brust
duration: instantaneos
saving throw: none or reflex half (object, see text)
spell resistance: no

an explosion deals 1d4 points of damage per level to anything in a 20ft. radius sphere, including the air, walls and ground that might be in the area (this does not cause creatures to suffocate, as air is restored to the area from all sides, assuming there was air to begin with). hardness, damage raduction and any other form of resistence are bypassed by the spell. magic items and creatures protected by a force effect (such as a ring of force shield or a mage armor spell) may attempt a reflex save for half damge. a wall of force is unaffected by the spell and totaly protects anything behind it from damage. note that objects in an affected creature's possession are affected as well. anything that is destroyed or killed as a result from the damage is blown to pieces and is pushed out of the affected area. in a normal environment this spell will produce a 20ft.-radius-sphere of vacuum, which will be filled with the sorounding air a second later.

Looks ok, make it clearer that it damages all objects (which get a reflex save, unlike the person) and some formating.

Why make a deal out of the air going if it just comes back?

not all objects get a save, only magical objects

Spell Resistance: Yes

An explosion of nerfed force inflicts 1d4 points of damage per level (maximum 20d4) to all creatures and objects within the area. This blast of destructive power bypasses all hardness and damage reduction.
Only creatures who are protected by force effects (such as bracers of armor or a shield spell) and magic items are granted a Reflex save against this spell.

I am of the opinion that this spell needed some Nerfing to be comparable in power and utility to other 7th level spells, even given the reduced damage.
 

you added spell resistance, not good.
what i wanted was a spell that deals damage with almost no way to resist it, so SR should not apply.

now that i think of it, the spell will be too powerful if it affected all the items a victim had on him, half of 13d4 (minimum damage with succesful save) is uselly enough to destroy most items.
also, at this level most characters will most likely have bracers of armor or a ring of protection (is that a force effect?), making the spell lots weaker.
