New Spells: Demolish, Root(Edited Demolish)(again)

Why exactly? It only does the damage of a 3rd llevel spell. Its only advantages are the ability to do full damage to objects and constructs and the fact that energy resistances dont apply.
The fact that energy resistances do not apply is a big deal and should IMO make the spell about 2 spell levels higher than other spells with comparable damage vs area/targets.

TWO levels higher? No sorry its not worth that. Plenty of things dont even have energy resistances. a 6th level spell that only does 10d6 damage, and can do full damage to objects? I dont think so. Especialy not in 3.5 where energy resistances have nbeen reduced anyway

I think it should probably be a 5th level spell since its damage is equivalent to a third level spell but does not allow energy resistance.

its not even really ment as an attack spell...its meant to level buildings and stuff...but it wouldnt make much sense if it didnt damage creatures too.
We already have one pathetic 5th level cone spell, do we really need another? :-)

Whether or not you meant it to be an attack spell it is a pretty good one and should IMO be of an appropriate spell level.

If you want to make it a fourth level spell I think you should make it deal sonic damage.

Uhh...like nothing has resistance to sonic anyway and people would be making the same complaint about it.
Its fireball, without the fire, and with full damage to objects. And no nothing is resistant to it, but nothing is vulnerable to it either.

Demolish to my mind looks fine at fourth. Essentially, you've gone for Sonic damage substitution in terms of damage-dealing capabilities (in that it does full damage to objects) and then raised it a level to compensate for the lack of elemental resistance.

Root is probably a bit weak IMO. Given that Hold Person is 3rd, Root should probably be 3rd as well. Granted that the new 3.5e Hold Person is easier to 'break out of' and only affects humanoids, but Root still allows the victim to take actions and doesn't make him as vulnerable (including not making him susceptible to coup de grace!)

Root
Alteration (Earth)
Level: Sor/Wiz 4, Elm 4
Components: V, S
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Medium (100 ft +10/level)
Target: 1 creature
Duration: 1 round/level
Saving Throw: Reflex Negates
Spell Resistance: Yes

This spell causes the ground to rise up and clamp a creatures feat. The effected creature cannot take move actions, and loses any Dexterity bonus to armor class. Each round the creature may make a strength check to break free. The DC is 15+ caster level.
The spell effects any creature up to Large size. This increases by one size category for every 3 levels beyond 7th.

I like root a lot for a druid, too. Or maybe even a ranger, or cleric w/the right domain (earth?).
