I doubt that the data itself would cost much. The file can't be more than 50 MB and most systems give you gigabytes for free these days. It's kind of weird to close it unless they had some kind of target N they were looking for. They may pay per answer with the software they're using. I can't recall the system.

Reading between the lines, maybe the service they are working does charge based on the amount of data analyized.
