New to DMing

As I have said before, I was going to be in a group, but now the would-be DM has asked me to take his place, And I accepted.

I have an ide of what the campaign would be, in the manual of planes it discribes ana: Ana the sleeper plays in the playground, etc, then there is grumpy the dragon that only wakes when she is threatened. In fact, Anas physical body exist in stasis, on a red, dead planet where no breath is possbile. ETC, and in the end it says: the dragon knows the truth, however.

Would going and rescuing ana be a good campaign idea? They'll all be 1st level, how can they all get to there? I have an idea that someone will dream, and go into the same dream and tell about it...

Any advise?

My advice would be, if this is your first time DMing, take it slow. Start out with the basics before getting into the hard stuff.

That is, run a few games where you are mainly managing combat and describing areas and low level NPCs.

This will allow your PCs to level up a little and will let you get a hang for what you are comfortable with as a DM.

After this, then start your plot.

A dream world plot is IMO not the easiest thing to do your first time out, but if thats what youwant, I would suggest you read Lovecraft's dream storys and apply them. Have the adventurers themselves become dream adventurers, that is, they learn the secret to entering the dream world. From the main dream land they find a lost gate to anavaree and then in their effort to save the girl, they have to either, discover her body in the real universe or they have to somehow teach her to grow up.

i agree with Wicht, start slow. ana's story in the manual of the planes sounds to me like an earth colony ship crashed on mars.

'no breath is possible', would mean your PCs would all have to have necklaces of adaptation, or the ioun stone equivalent to rescue her physical body. and then there's the problem with transportation. both would indicate to me a higher level adventure.

you could do it at a lower level if the PCs were provided with the information, equipment and transportation (as a quest from a higher level or much richer patron), but what that dragon think of the PCs messing with his girl?
