I've watched it approximately twice a day since I downloaded it.

Spoilers:

I read somewhere that TTT (the movie) is going to stop before Shelob. Where do you think they'll stop that storyline? I'm rereading TTT (the book) now and will give my opinion of a good stopping point. From what I read it will help the two story lines synch up time-wise.

just a guess

I think a really great stopping point for TTT would be as Frodo, Sam, and Gollum watch the army of Mordor leaving Minas Morgul.
In the book Frodo almost falls into despair as he watches the host of Mordor leaving to assault Minas Tirith. This is also the last chapter before Gollum leads Sam and Frodo into Shelob's lair.

I think the visual of the might of Sauron's army marching out of the black gates of Mordor would be an impressive sight to see as the screen fades to black and the credits roll.

I've read the same thing. My guess for ending point is this: Gollum deciding to betray Frodo/Defeat of Saruman/recovery of Palantir.

We may see the Army of Mordor leaving the Gates; that would happen after Aragorn uses the Palantir, but before he decides to go to the paths of the dead. Then we could see Gollum decide to betray Frodo, just as Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli walk off to the Paths of the Dead, with Eowyn pleading with them not to go.

Seems a bit of a downer, unless PJ has come up with a way to create an uplifting action moment just as the he did in the first film. He may do that by having the end come right as Saruman and Wormtongue are defeated and the Palantir is recovered, leaving betrayal, paths of the dead, and such for film three.

downers are good

I think ending TTT on a big down-note would be great. The Empire Strikes Back was like that and is arguably the best Star Wars movie.

It would really set up TRotK nicely if the second movie was very dark as it ended.

You are correct about moving the Shelob scene to the third movie. The decision was made to give Sam and Frodo more "airtime" in the third movie. Most of "The Return of the King" focuses on Minas Tirith and PJ wanted to bring a bit more balance to the story in the third movie.

As to how it is going to end, I have no idea. The anticipation is killing me!
