Five existing D&D subclasses are getting a rework in a newly released Unearthed Arcana. Four of the subclasses come from Xanathar’s Guide to Everything, while the fifth is the Oathbreaker subclass for Paladins from the 2014 Player’s Handbook.

The revised subclasses are:
  • Path of the Spiritual Guardian Barbarian (previously Path of the Ancestral Guardian)
  • Path of the Storm Herald Barbarian
  • Cavalier Fighter
  • Warrior of Intoxication Monk (formerly Way of the Drunken Master)
  • Oathbreaker Paladin
The Path of the Spiritual Guardian has received a revamped Spiritual Protectors ability with a choice of effects. The Storm Herald’s Storm Aura now scales with Rage damage and the Raging Storm now has redesigned environments. The Cavalier’s Unwavering Mark no longer has limited uses. The Warrior of Intoxication now has the ability to create potent drinks that grant abilities when drank. The Oathbreaker has received some updates bringing its abilities in line with the revamped Paladin’s ability.

The survey for the new subclasses opens on November 6th.

Are we deciding that WotC removed Master based on zero evidence and then decided to get angry about their actions despite the lack of evidence?

There's a lot of things with evidence to get angry about.
I have no idea what to think about what they did.

However, depending on what reasons they had behind it, or WHY they did it, it MAY be offensive.

In fact, it may be FAR more than offensive, it may be racist and extremely discriminatory against those of Asian (and even more specifically, Chinese) descent.

Or it could be nothing and of no consequence.

I am curious on their reasoning and why though, because the difference between those two is pretty extreme.

Nope.

It is speculation based on my experience working with sensitivity readers. It is clear they use them.

No anger involved, just discussion.

Given that "Weapon Mastery" is a new and major game element just added... I think your speculation about the word itself being an issue is baseless and improbable.

If there’s one thing I learned from my favorite martial arts movie (and best martial arts movie of all time, it’s objective lol), is that there is no master. The master is inside us. 😉
