New "What sort of RPG player are you?" poll (this one by Charles Ryan)

Mmh, interesting and somewhat true. However, what I want from game changes many times, even during the game. Also, how I make my character and how I play them also varies depending which people I play with.

I guess the low percentages mean I have a fairly balanced view about these subjects (whether balanced=good is another question, of course). This also tells me there's a fair number of questions in the survey that only affect one factor.

Mathematicaly, this is impossible.

Thus the source of my expression:

The limit as GPA goes to zero of a Math major equals a Psychology major.

I don't know the general case, but our college's Psych department was about 40% former Math majors when I was in college (back in 1985; am I THAT old?!).

Timmy: Likes big fat effects, stuff that makes people go Holy :):):):)!!! when it hits the board. They usually love "fatties" or "beatsticks", highly costed yet strong creatures. I'm guessing Timmy would be the guy who likes to get really silly effects in one impressive area and be the best at it. He's the guy with the twinked out charger, sneak attacker, just about anything that can hit for a ton of damage. As a Dungeons and Dragons player he'd like respect for being very strong in one area. Some decks that come to mind are Secret Force, Fires, The Claw, etc.
Johny: This is M:TG code for somebody who wants to win about half his matches, but winning isn't the big thing for him. He plays wacky theme decks and trys to do cool things like mill somebody out with a clunky combo or do silly mechanical things to win in an unexpected fashion. "Johnny" cards are things like The Cheese Stands Alone, Enduring Renewal, Squirrel Nest with Earthcraft, Worldgorger Dragon, that sort of thing. So this could be somebody who plays against character, does odd class and equipment combos, who really customizes his character.
Spike: This is the guy who doesn't really care how he wins, just that he does. This person will play the strongest decks(builds) and cards(feats, spells, equipment). This term is also used for people who take Magic "seriously", tourney players, registered people, people who are conversant enough with the rules to judge, etc.
In roleplaying terms a Spike would be someone who is very mechanically strong, too.
These aren't all or nothing. For instance, a Spike/Timmy would be someone who would try to play the strongest decks as best as he could...
But he would beat your ass down with Akroma and flashy bombs.

You scored as Character Player.

The Character Player enjoys creating in-depth characters with distinct and rich personalities. He identifies closely with his characters, feeling detached from the game if he doesn’t. He takes creative pride in exploring different characters, often making each new one radically different than others he’s played. The Character Player bases his decisions on his character's psychology first and foremost. He may view rules as a necessary evil at best, preferring sessions in which the dice never come out of their bags. For the Character Player, the greatest reward comes from experiencing the game from the emotional perspective of an interesting character.

Just in case you're not joking, all of them start at 50%. The different types are not exclusive, most of us have at least some of each of them in us.

If you were joking, ignore the above. It should instead read, "Dude! I agree with you 110%!" :p

Hmmm, powergamer and tactician have switched spots since last time I took this quiz. Looks about right though.

Interesting because it is not really how I see myself. I think it came up tactician because I have strong opinions regarding those who OVERfocus on tactics that comes through in the responses.
