New "What sort of RPG player are you?" poll (this one by Charles Ryan)

Character Player 75%
Storyteller 65%
Tactician 50%
Power Gamer 50%
Weekend Warrior 40%
Casual Gamer 30%
Specialist 10%

Sounds about right. I like to make interesting and unique characters, get them into interesting and challenging situations, and then waste my enemies with carefully constructed tactics and character synergies. I like action and mayhem, but the best part of that is doing it with a memorable character in pursuit of a memorable goal.

Interesting to compare it to the results in my sig (which I prefer :))

Storyteller 100%
Character Player 80%
Tactician 50%
Casual Gamer 35%
Power Gamer 30%
Weekend Warrior 10%
Specialist 0%

That seems pretty accurate, but I would have guessed Tactician and Power Gamer would have had higher percentages.

You scored as Storyteller.

The Storyteller is in it for the plot: the sense of mystery and the fun of participating in a narrative that has the satisfying arc of a good book or movie. He enjoys interacting with well-defined NPCs, even preferring antagonists who have genuine motivations and personality to mere monsters. To the Storyteller, the greatest reward of the game is participating in a compelling story with interesting and unpredictable plot threads, in which his actions and those of his fellow characters determine the resolution. With apologies to Robin Laws.

This seems about right. But I have no idea what a weekend warrior is and I scored 45% in it. I would think that was a casual gamer but there is already a casual gamer category. So what is a weekend warrior?

I was surprised at how high the casual gamer was. I also had problems judging the questions, in that some answers would be "it depends". Such as the other member in the party going into a fight half-cocked. Were they bored (seen it, very bad call), provoked in character, or playing in character? It is hard to disagree with if it was in character but if they just wanted to kill something and ran into combat, they (usually) deserved what they got.
For me, I found those ones hard to answer because I often *am* the player who sends his character in long before the plan is finalized. :)

I hated it, and feel it totally misdiagnosed me. Nearly every item was something that I could easily think of exceptions to, and so I didn't click the rightmost "agree" option even once. There just isn't a single one of those statements that I can agree to wholeheartedly and without qualification.

Overall that's right, however, I expected my Tactician score to be higher. I love complex combats and using varied character abilities to overcome challenges. Sadly no one else in my group is like that, this results in some problems when I DM. :(
