Thanks y'all! Previously, my role was Managing Game Designer—i.e., a game designer who manages. In this role, I'm directing the Game Design department as a whole, not just managing its individual members and contributing to or leading projects. It's a step up from what I was doing before.

Am I nuts or is D&D now one of the biggest IPs that's helmed almost exclusively by millennials? After Crawford and Perkins dropped out it seems they, literally, handed the keys over to the next generation (X to Millennials).

Answering that would require me to know who helms all the IPs. Which I don't. So... no idea!
Yeah, I guess I retain that information a bit more based on my media diet.

I'm thinking of things like Star Wars (Dave Filoni, gen X), Marvel (Kevin Feige, gen X), DC (James Gunn, Gen X), Warcraft (Chris Metzen, gen X), Stranger Things (literally a self-parody of gen X sentiment), Star Trek (Alex Kurtzman, Gen X), Game of Thrones (George Martin, Boomer), Harry Potter (JK Rowling, Gen X)

There's this oft-repeated line from WotC corporate about how "Dungeons and Dragons" has the same brand recognition as "Star Wars" but doesn't make nearly as much money, so that's what I'm comparing this to.

The head of D&D is Dan Ayoub. I have no idea how old he is, but my (admittedly uninformed) sense was that he was around my age, and I'm solidly Gen X.

That's true and a good point. I guess because I thought the "leaders" of D&D were Perkins, Crawford and to a lesser extent Mearls because of how visible and available they were to the fans during the first decade of 5e, but you're right.
