newbie question about starter paladin

Old But New

First Post
My player has a starter Dwarf Paladin (I think from Khyber's Harvest).

It's default attack is +7 vs. AC with a magic war-hammer I can't figure out how to reproduce this.

I think it's
+1 from 1/2 level (level 2)
+1 ability (from 12 strength)
+2 proficient (the character used the "Dwarven Weapon Training" to get this, I think)
+1 Enchancement bonus (from the +1 war-hammer)

That only gets me to +5. That feature says it makes the character proficient in hammers and axes, and gives +2 to damage rolls, but not to attack rolls.

Does he have the Melee Training feat that lets him substitute another stat (Cha?) for STR in his Basic Attacks?

Edit: Getting the +2 for proficiency does not cost a feat, paladins are always proficient with hammers. Does he have CHA 16 and Melee Training (Cha)? That would give +7.

You're right that dwarven weapon training doesn't add to attack bonus. +1 from half-level, +2 from warhammer proficiency, +1 from warhammer enhancement; that's 4. The other 3 probably come from using an attribute other than strength. Paladins have many at-will attacks that use charisma instead of strength for the attack bonus, and the feat melee training will let you use any attribute for melee basic attack bonus. Does this dwarf paladin half a charisma of 16 or 17?

Charisma is 16, so +3 from Charisma would answer it. She doesn't have that feat.

The attack is "Bolstering Strike" which is "Charisma vs. AC", so that's exactly the answer. Thanks!

Why are you taking STR powers as a CHA paladin? If you only have 12 STR, you shouldn't even be looking at powers based on it. MBA isn't even worth it, as you get an at-will that can be used as an MBA that is CHA based (Ardent Strike).

The OP is trying to do some detective work to figure out how to change a one-shot character's pre-calculated math into something a PC can use and level up. They aren't looking for build advice.

Tho, the OP could have gotten a faster answer had they mentioned the attack's name being Bolstering Strike.
