I hate to be a doom-crier but...

Unless those large scale battle and skirmish rules bear more of a resemblance to the d20 System than the original Chainmail, I have no interest in them. I may pick up the minis if they are cheap enough, or heavily discounted by summer's end when the non-d20 rules flop again...

I'm actually looking forward to this. I've wanted decent mass-combat rules for a while (War just didn't cut it for me), and I like to use minis but can't paint 'em worth a damn.

Talk about killing two birds with one stone... :D

Regdar likes metal and likes to paint. Regdar wonders if this will be collectable too?

Well, the blurb said the packs were filled with "random...figures," so they'll probably be collect*able.* Whether or not people will actually collect them however...

If I'm going to bother to work mass combat into my campaign, I certainly don't want to have to buy tons of packs just hoping to get the three units of gnoll warriors Ineed to storm the PC's castle. So far, no plans to move my business away from Reaper. Besides, I like to paint, too.

are mage knight and hero clicks randomly bought? or do you know what you're getting? how about the new battletech?

are these games the new magic?

Cheap prepainted DnD minatures wahooo, psyched psyched psyched.

I'm also hoping that those large scale battle rules can be used in DnD.

Random. Also, fairly badly painted. This has been my big turn-off from Mage Knight: I don't want something random, I want to get what I want to get! But I'd probably never use them to actually play Mage Knight, which is probably why I feel the way I do about them: I've always just liked minis for their own sake. But with that perspective, I want to get exactly what I want to get, and nothing else.

i mean if i could say 'hmmm, the PCs are fighting 3 gnolls tonight, i'll pop down the road and pick up those minis" and they'd be reasonably affordable and pre-painted, then i'd be so into this idea you wouldn't believe it.

but if i'd have to buy 10 boxes to get what i want or buy the open ones at twice the price then i suspect i'd leave it alone.
