I spent five minutes looking to see who owns the rights before realizing I should really be asleep and gave up. Intellectual property rights are complicated. The general assumption is that it's owned by Disney because Disney bought either 20th Century Fox (no idea why, they weren't involved in the production and it aired on a Fox network once in the early 2000s and that's it?) or because they purchased Marvel (who owns Marvel Productions, which was one of the companies that produced the cartoon). Meanwhile, the other credited production companies include TSR (which would mean Marvel owns it) and Toei Animation (which would mean Toei owns it, though this is unlikely as they were most likey contracted to provide animation as with other cartoons in the 1980s). The rights could also be with either Disney or Hasbro because of the complicated history with the purchase of Saban Entertainment, who was one of the distributors or the show. And frankly, that's as far down that particular rabbit hole I'd like to go tonight. Either way, either Hasbro owns it (so there's no issues) or Disney owns it (which means Hasbro likely got a license from Disney which shouldn't be difficult since Disney and Hasbro have a very long relationship in licensing with Hasbro making toys for Marvel, Star Wars, Disney Princesses, and a lot of other Disney properties). No matter what, I think it's safe to assume that whoever owns the rights has approved of this because of the HUGE hurdles you have to go through to stream copyrighted recordings on Twitch because it requires special permission from Twitch to do so as other big channels owned by large media companies have gotten in trouble before for showing their own movies or TV shows on Twitch. And if they don't, it'll be a big story on here next week when the official D&D Twitch channel gets banned just a week before a large streaming production.
