This is the same reason I was never concerned about 3.x when 4e came out, or 4e when 5e came out. I've got plenty of material and can play the edition I want anytime I want. I don't particularly need a whole lot more. And there's arguably more material from Paizo or Paizo designers working for third parties (like Jason Bulmahn has Minotaur games and Owen K.C. Stephens has Rogue Genius) than there is for any of the other editions of D&D from Wizards of the Coast and/or TSR. And since it's OGL, I don't see companies stopping with third-party products for 1st Edition either. That said, nothing that's come out of Pathfinder 2nd seems all that different than what's already in Pathfinder 1st. It's just streamlined and put together into a single core rules instead of spread out over several splatbooks published years apart. Pretty sure Archetypes aren't anything new to 2nd Ed, but the column was already late and I didn't want to go digging through my Pathfinder books to find if the Advanced Player's Guide or Advanced Class Guide or Pathfinder Unchained or something else had them in there. And all the options are being redesigned at the same time as the core rules, so we're less likely to see classes that are completely useless compared to ones that came later like the Rogue ended up, or game-breaking multiclass or feat combinations. I keep linking to the books, but honestly, check out the PDF when it comes out in just over a month and give it a fair chance. If it's not for you...well, despite what some people seem to think, the Edition Police won't be kicking down your door to confiscate your old rulebooks.
