NEWS - Friday Aug 9

I spotted E-Tools at my local store today. Not sure if it's news to y'all or not, but it's out. It comes in a small, easily-shoplifted cd-sleeve and retails for $44.95 US (ouch!)

$44.95?! It was only supposed to be about 30 bucks, wasn't it?!

Grrrrrr...HULK SMASH!!

Edit: Oh, ok. SVGames has it listed at $29.95. I expect the shop you visited was just trying to make a few extra bucks of its customers.

Could be...but this would be the first product they've done that on. Everything else in the store is generally 20% off list price. As it is, they're selling E-tools for 20% off the $44.95 price...seems odd to artificially inflate the price if you're going to provide a discount anyways, but you never know. I'll look out for cheaper prices at other stores.

People mentioned on the Fluid boards that they saw it being sold for $60! Sheesh! Thank goodness for SVGames.

No, that doesn't sound all that odd at all sadly enough. Think about which you're more likely to purchase: Item A at price X, or Item B "Marked Down!" or "On Sale!" at the same price X? Keep in mind that you don't know they've inflated the price of Product B so that the discount brings it right back to that Price X.

Well, I don't know if it's news, but this is the Con of the Hardcover.

Sword & Sorcery Studio: Relics & Rituals II (Sold Out), Necropolis, Everquest, (This doesn't count Banewarrens, Maze 3, etc...)

Fantasy Flight Games: Path of the Mage (not counting the huge CoC module.)

Fast Forward Entertainment: Demons & Devils Encylopedia II, Green Races, Locations (not counting OrcFest, Devilish Lairs, Campaign #4, Games Unplugged ?, etc...)

Bastion Press: Oathbound

AEG: Farscape (many many new books. Magic, Armsmen, Wind and Rain)

Kenzer & Co Villain's Handbook

There was more, but that's just the stuff I remember. Way too much goodies for me.

Nope.

Green Ronin was very cool as was Mystic Eye Games (with Witch of Loch and Wild Spellcraft) but I didn't get a chance to get into that subject because it was packed. I don't mind asking for product to review but there was no slow time in most booths. I had a very interesting converstation with Doug Herring and Hal from ME and hope to expand upon the interview on OgreCave soon with something like "Gen Con Fallout" or something like that.

Speaking of GRG, they did have Assassin's Handbook, Book of the Righteous, and more info on Mutants & Masterminds.

How about more hardcover news? Silver Age Sentinels D20 (Ah, if only I get get copies of both versions...) Monstronomicon from Privateer Press. To me, the best looking monster book yet. Best. A real shocker for me? Not hardcover related, but Paragidm had tons of product. Hopefully OgreCave will be able to work something out with them soon.
